Founding ML/Data Engineer (Remote First) UK Only

£70k - £100k · 0.5% - 1% · Remote First

We are an AI-driven hospitality tech platform helping vacation rental owners automate their revenue on Booking.com and Airbnb.

We sit on Booking.com private API data, Airbnb channel data, and scraped competitive pricing across thousands of properties. Right now, we barely use it. Our agent is rules-based where it should be data-driven, and our promotions engine has no model behind it.

We are looking for a founding ML/Data engineer to change that. You will turn dormant data into a smarter agent and a compounding moat.

The Role

We have Booking.com private API data, Airbnb channel data, and scraped competitive pricing across thousands of properties. You will be the first person to seriously dig into it.

Your job is to find the patterns and signals that drive revenue, then work with the engineering team to make our agent act on them.

  • Find What Matters: Dig through our Booking.com, Airbnb, and scraped competitive data. Figure out what signals actually predict revenue, what is noise, and what we should act on.
  • Separate Cause from Correlation: When a promotion drives a booking, was it causal or would it have converted anyway? When occupancy drops, is it pricing, seasonality, or competition? We need rigorous answers, not guesses.
  • Turn Insights into Revenue: Work with the engineering team to translate your findings into logic the agent can use. The goal is recommendations that are measurably better than what a human would do.
  • Shape the Data Strategy: We have a lot of data and no roadmap for it. You will decide what to track, what to enrich, and where the highest-value opportunities are.
  • Ship to Production: This is not a notebooks role. Your analysis needs to reach customers. You will work inside our Django and ClickHouse stack alongside the engineering team.

The Logistics

  • Remote-first role for UK-based candidates.
  • You should expect to be in London for WeWork sessions at least a few days per month, flexibly, for onboarding, planning, and product work with the team.
  • Salary: £70k - £100k (depending on experience).
  • Equity: Up to 1% options (4-year vesting).

Who You Are

  • Entrepreneur: You have startup or small company experience. You have shipped a data project end-to-end, from identifying the opportunity to delivering measurable value. You thrive in ambiguity.
  • Deeply Curious: You open a dataset and immediately start asking questions. You have a nose for what is interesting, what is suspicious, and what is worth investigating further.
  • Analytically Rigorous: You think in hypotheses and experiments, not dashboards. You know the difference between correlation and causation and it shapes how you work. Ideally strong with time series data.
  • Product Thinker: You care about what matters to the business, not just what is technically interesting. You can evaluate whether a model is delivering meaningful value and iterate until it does.
  • Production Code: You write clean, deployable Python. You are comfortable working inside a Django codebase, not just Jupyter notebooks. Experience with pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn. A Node.js or other backend background is fine if you ship fast and learn fast.
  • AI-First: You use AI coding tools with multiple agents to ship faster and better. Ideally you have pushed into self-learning ML or agentic workflows. If you do not use frontier AI tools already, this is not the role for you.
  • Team Player: You take responsibility for the whole product, not just your part. You collaborate with engineers, give and receive feedback well, and care about the team winning.

Interview Process

  1. 1. 30 minute non-technical call with the CTO.
  2. 2. Take-home data challenge: we give you a sample of real OTA data and ask what you notice, what you would investigate further, and what you would recommend we act on.
  3. 3. 1 hour deep-dive on your submission with the founding team. We care about your thinking process, not a polished slide deck.
  4. 4. Meet in person with both founders.
  5. 5. Offer.

Why This Role?

  • Unique Data: Booking.com private API data, Airbnb channel data, and scraped competitive pricing. This dataset does not exist at most companies.
  • Real Impact: Your models will directly drive revenue decisions for thousands of properties. No internal dashboards that nobody looks at.
  • High Equity: 1% is a good chunk for our stage.
  • Compounding Moat: Every property we add makes the data richer and the models better. You are building the thing that makes us hard to displace.
